Director John Tiffany and the National Theatre of Scotland caused a huge stir last year with Black Watch.Now they return to open the official festival with a new version of Euripidesís great tragedy, The Bacchae. Savage, comic and intensely lyrical, The Bacchae powerfully dramatises the conflict between the emotional and rational sides of the human psyche.
