Englishman Stuart Hill, who set up home in Shetland after getting shipwrecked on its shores, believes that the Crown never gained full ownership of the islands, which were handed to Scotland by a Norwegian King in the 1400s in lieu of a dowry for a royal wedding. He has taken ownership of a tiny Shetland island called Forewick Holm, renaming it Forvik and calling for it to be recognised as a Crown dependency - Shetland, Scotland, UK - 25th January 2009. Pictured Stuart sits in front of a piece of glass containing the words to the 1669 ACT for annexation of Orkney and Shetland to the Crown.
